Am I weirdly obsessed with watching people organize things in rainbow order? Also yep.

And is one of the best parts of creating custom website designs a before-and-after that’s just as satisfying as those are? No question.

Today, we’re excited to share how we transformed Vicki’s website from a time capsule of 8+ years into a vibrant, welcoming space that truly reflects her warmth, professionalism, and expertise.

The Backstory

Vicki is a fabulous doula and massage therapist with a heart as big as her experience. We live in a small town and we’ve been running into her for years — and you can’t help but smile big when you see her.

We’d been low-key talking about building her a new website for years… so we were delighted when she *officially* approached us, ready to take the leap.

We already knew that her website was feeling outdated and she knew it wasn’t doing much for her business.

But the thing that made her really pull the trigger, is that she was ready for a space where she could not only showcase her talents, but also expand her business and showcase digital offers. (YES to ALL of the big goals! 😍)

Custom Website Design :: Goals & Deliverables

A website design project always kicks off with a strategic website kickoff session. We learned EVERYTHING — who she wanted to work with, how long she’d been around, and the things that made her really special. (Well, outside of the obvious, of course.)

We also explored the reasons that a potential client might hesitate before working with her, and the roadblocks they had in finding that she exists.

Here was our to-do list following the first call:

• Refine Vicki’s brand to feel warm, welcoming, and professional
• Include pages for her doula services, massage team, birth education, and a way to contact her
• Oh, and an about page that’s not too weird and not too sentimental… but still, somehow, encapsulates all of the weird and extremely sentimental things that Vicki’s job entails
• Turn Mother Nurture Massage Therapy & Doula Services into THE most welcoming studio in Lethbridge, Alberta

…and I might be biased, but I think we NAILED IT. 💅

Custom Showit Website :: Design Challenges

Of course, with every website design, there’s going to be a monkey wrench somewhere. We knew that it was going to be tough to combine allllll of Vicki’s amazingness in one website — and we were right.

How do we showcase Vicki’s wealth of talent, without throwing out an overwhelming amount of information? How do we help the person who’s just looking for a massage therapist, and not make it weird that they’re on a doula’s website? And how do we make this all look and feel as approachable and cool as Vicki is?

Here’s how we solved those design challenges to create a site that feels perfect for Vicki.

1. A home page that focuses on her most sustainable and unique offer — her doula services. It’s not possible to weight two important things equally, so we chose a logical entry point and ran with it.
   
2. All the while, this page ALSO makes it very clear that she’s here for prenatal & postnatal massage!
   
3. The services page outlines her signature offer, and provides clear, visual links to her educational services and massage therapy.
   
4. And the cherry on top: a separate massage therapy “home page” that speaks directly to the person who’s looking for a good massage.

Custom Website Design :: Our Favourite Parts

1. Can we just say “all of it”? Because, all of it.
   
2. The palette. If there were a colour that could sum up the way that Vicki feels when she walks into a room, it’s this warm, welcoming, utterly delicious green
   
3. THE FREAKIN’ MENU. I laughed out loud the first time that I popped that sucker open. It’s surprising, hilarious, and just too too real — there’s NOTHING that’s more of a Vicki vibe than that specific feature.
