You know how you have your best ideas in the shower? You’re mindlessly scrubbing your knees when – bam! – you come up with the perfect way to word that email or have a breakthrough on that glitch that’s been bugging you all day.

It sounds crazy, but your brain is not its most active when you’re focused on a task. That’s the beauty of a warm shower! It loosens your focus. It lets your mind wander.

There are no distractions, you’re all alone, and you’re completely comfortable. And when you’re that relaxed, your brain is releasing dopamine – which boosts your creative juices!

Long story short, the shower is a great place to hang out when you’re looking for a great idea… but I’m not just going to hop onto my soapbox (pun intended) and tell you to shower. ?

Reserve an entire day for “shower thoughts” every single week.

I know, I know, it can feel SO counterproductive to take a day off – but it’s the only thing that’s kept me sane over the past few years!

I take one full day every single week – and I mean a full day. No e-mails, no project brainstorming, no podcasts, no social media… not even a hint of anything work related. It’s hard – my work LIGHTS. ME. UP. and it’s sooo tempting to sneak an hour at my desk when I’m swamped. (When do you think I came up with the idea for this blog post? Hah!)
